The short version
We do not ask you to register, we do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves. Searching for an area code happens entirely inside your browser — the search index ships with the page, so your queries are not sent to us. What remains is ordinary web-server logging and, where advertising is enabled, cookies set by third-party ad partners.
Information we collect
Automatically collected technical data. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard request information: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the URL requested, and a timestamp. These logs exist to keep the service online, diagnose errors and detect abuse such as scraping or denial-of-service traffic.
Aggregate usage data. If analytics are enabled, we look at page-level counts — which area-code pages are popular, which searches return nothing useful — so we know where the directory needs work. We use this in aggregate; we are not interested in identifying individual visitors.
Information you send us. If you email us a correction or question through the contact page, we keep that message and your reply address for as long as it takes to resolve the issue and to keep a record of data corrections.
What we never collect. We do not collect phone numbers you look up, we do not run reverse-lookup or caller-identification services, and we hold no database of individual subscribers. An area code page describes a region, not a person.
Browser storage and the live clock
The local-time clock on each area-code page is calculated in your browser using the IANA time-zone database built into your device. Nothing about your own location or clock is transmitted to us. The directory does not use local storage or session storage to retain searches or preferences.
Cookies and advertising
Area Code Search USA may display advertising to keep the directory free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Blocking or deleting cookies in your browser also works; the directory keeps functioning without them.
Third parties we rely on
- Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap. When a map loads, your browser requests image tiles directly from their servers, which means they receive your IP address under their own privacy terms.
- Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which likewise sees the request.
- Hosting and CDN providers process requests on our behalf and keep short term logs for security and performance.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, request a copy, ask for correction or deletion, or object to certain processing. Because we hold so little — essentially server logs and any email you have sent us — most requests are quick to answer. Write to us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Area Code Search USA is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled — for example by adding a new analytics or advertising partner — we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
